Cardiac Catheterisation Westmead Children’s Hospital
At 10.30am Elizabeth was taken into theatre and underwent whats called Cardiac Catheterisation. A fine tube was inserted into the groin via a vein up into the heart. This was performed by Dr Cooper and took only 1 hour to do as the results were as expected. The heart was performing well except for a leeking valve which Dr Murphy had mentioned was more Mild to Moderate than just Mild. It is highly recomended that Elizabeth have her operation before the age of 1 or at least by the end of the year. Dr Cooper was very pleased with Elizabeth stating how well she had grown since he last saw her at birth. Elizabeth was then in the recovery room when she woke and was in a little pain. Leslie and I had no option but to sing her favourite song. You Canna through your Granny off the Bus” and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. These are the only 2 songs that settle Elizabeth when distressed. All the Nurses in Recovery where amuzed and amazed firstly at the words to this song then how quickly Elizabeth stopped crying. We were then send up to the wards. Once Elizabeth tolerated her foods and the Doctors were happy with her recovery Elizabeth was allowed to go home so we were Discharged on the same day YIPPEE !!!
Since coming home Elizabeth has not stopped wriggling about hahaha its so hard to keep her still and her legs are still in the air. Oh boy what are we to do she is like houdini
Elizabeth is due to see the Surgeon and her Cardiologist on the 11th October 2006 to discuss what date her next operation will take place, as well as how the Glenn Procedure is performed. We will keep you all informed.
